European Parliament co-rapporteurs Dragoş Tudorache and Brando Benifei disseminated compromise amendments for the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, which were reviewed by Euractiv. A new article proposed to extend the AI Act to the metaverse environment “that meet certain conditions.” The criteria included requiring an “authenticated avatar,” built for large scale interaction and allows for real-life social interactions. The scope of the amendments was expanded from governing AI system providers to any entity looking to operationalize an AI system and sell it.
