The European Commission opened an investigation into the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, for potential violations of the EU Digital Services Act. The formal investigation will focus on risk management, content moderation and dark patterns. The preliminary investigation examined X's risk assessment filed in September, a DSA transparency report filed in November and formal replies to European Commission inquiries. Meanwhile, privacy advocacy group NOYB filed a complaint against X with the Netherlands data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, alleging the platform sent users targeted advertisements based on their "political views and religious beliefs," CNBC reports.
