The European Commission announced the first designations of "Very Large Online Platforms and Online Search Engines" under the Digital Services Act. The 19 registered entities will take on additional regulatory requirements as they amass 45 million monthly active users. Among the additional obligations are to have clear user rights offerings, including targeted advertising opt-outs, as well as enhanced transparency and accountability measures.
