In a joint statement, European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders and Personal Information Protection Commission Chairperson Yoon Jong welcomed the conclusion of adequacy discussions between the EU and South Korea. The conversations "confirmed the high degree of convergence between the European Union and the Republic of Korea in the area of data protection." The European Commission will move onto the next steps of the proceedings with the goal of adopting an adequacy decision in the coming months.
