Tesla’s use of driver-monitoring technology is raising privacy questions, Axios reports. Video footage of occupants from in-car cameras is being transmitted to engineers to further develop “future safety features and software enhancements.” The technology is turned off by default, with owners having the option to activate it. “Any time video is being recorded, it can be accessed later,” for example, by police or insurance companies, Electronic Privacy Information Center Senior Counsel John Davisson said.
