U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco announced the Department of Justice is launching the Civil Cyber-Fraud Initiative. The new line of enforcement will blend civil fraud enforcement, government procurement and cybersecurity with the aim of addressing ongoing cyberthreats against government contractors in charge of sensitive data and critical systems. “For too long, companies have chosen silence under the mistaken belief that it is less risky to hide a breach than to bring it forward and to report it. Well that changes today," Monaco said.
