DLA Piper released its annual General Data Protection Regulation Fines and Data Breach Survey results. The survey found EU authorities issued 1.78 billion euros in fines since January 2023, a 14% increase from 2022. "Failure to comply with the core GDPR principles continues to be the most frequently cited justification for fines across the jurisdictions surveyed and failures to comply with the lawfulness, fairness and transparency principle remain the top enforcement priority," DLA Piper Partner and Chair of Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity John Magee said.
