As part of the "2021 State of the State," Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y. proposed a privacy bill that would require companies to disclose their data collection practices and limit the amount of information gathered for those purposes. Cuomo will also establish a "Bill of Rights" to give residents increased data subject rights and has proposed legislation requiring smart devices to include "clear and conspicuous disclosure" of all recording capabilities.
