The Shanghai Consumer Council is asking Chinese multinational Tencent to clarify its intentions regarding personal data practices related to personalized advertising in the wake of the country's Personal Information Protection Law taking effect, South China Morning Post reports. The group asked whether Tencent planned to collect user data regardless if an individual opts out of personalized ads while also asking if the company would clarify undefined services data collection might go toward.
