The U.S. Department of Commerce appointed its first 27 members to the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee. The committee will advise President Joe Biden and the National AI Initiative Office on issues related to artificial intelligence, including AI competitiveness in the U.S. and AI workforce issues. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves said the committee members “will be instrumental” in striking a balance between mitigating risks associated with AI and “enhancing our economic and national security.”
