Amazon’s smart speaker Alexa is the subject of a new federal class-action lawsuit alleging Amazon used information from customers to target them with advertisements, GeekWire reports. The complaint is grounded in a University of Washington study conducted in April that concluded Amazon reportedly analyzes users' commands into the Alexa speaker to guess their shopping preferences and used them to target both on- and off-platform advertisements. Amazon confirmed Alexa uses customer commands for ad selection but questioned the accuracy of the study.
