A coalition calling for better regulation of facial recognition and biometric surveillance wrote a letter to Canada's Minister of Innovation Science and Industry saying the proposed Bill C-27 is in "dire need of significant amendments," the Toronto Star reports. The Right2YourFace Coalition, comprised of members of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group, the Privacy and Access Council of Canada, and several others claimed Bill C-27, as drafted, does not go far enough to address harms caused by facial recognition.
