BBB National Programs’ Children’s Advertising Review Unit announced mobile game publisher Firefly Games violated CARU's self-regulatory guidelines and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. CARU's probe determined "unclear provisions and inconsistencies" existed within Firefly Games' privacy notice. The application was found to be a child-directed app with a "mixed audience" that falls under COPPA's scope. CARU's action is the second against a children's game developer in the last month.
