The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada issued a joint statement with Canada's provincial and territorial privacy authorities on the importance of privacy in the country's vaccine passport plans. "While this may offer substantial public benefit, it is an encroachment on civil liberties that should be taken only after careful consideration," the commissioners wrote. Additionally, it noted passport privacy practices should offer "the highest level of privacy protection commensurate with the sensitivity of the personal health information that will be collected, used or disclosed."
