The British Columbia Court of Appeal will allow a class-action lawsuit against Google for alleged privacy breaches stemming from facial recognition use to return to the British Columbia Supreme Court. Plaintiffs filed claims to the court of appeal regarding Google's nonconsensual collection and processing of biometric data. Justice Karen Horsman said claimants have "a right to control their own facial biometric identifiers, and that control was not ceded by the act of uploading a photograph."
