The COVID-19 pandemic has allowed Canada Border Services Agency to modernize how travelers enter the country, CBC reports. To help to complete all the paperwork for incoming travelers required by the Public Health Agency of Canada, CBSA developed the ArriveCan application. Already in use at several major airports, travelers can submit their customs declarations prior to arrival. CBSA also plans to install facial recognition for Canadians and Americans who have trusted travelers’ cards at NEXUS kiosks. CBSA is working with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada to ensure technological innovations respect privacy.
