MediaPost reports Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote a letter to U.S. Congressional commerce leaders voicing support for the American Data Privacy and Protection Act discussion draft. Cook told lawmakers the company offers "strong support" for their draft bill, which achieves the "shared goal" of "substantial protections for consumers." Cook previously advocated for a federal privacy law, most recently at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit 2022 in Washington, D.C. Editor's note: The IAPP's Cobun Zweifel-Keegan, CIPP/US, CIPM, Müge Fazlioglu, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and Joe Duball wrote on aspects of the draft proposal.
