The African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection will enter into force by 8 June after Mauritania became the 15th African state to ratify the legislation, Data Protection Africa reports. Adopted by the AU Assembly in 2014, the convention created a comprehensive legal framework for data protection, cybercrime and cybersecurity. "This marks a significant milestone in the African continent's efforts to address issues of cybersecurity and data protection," DPA said.
