The European Union emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in the EU's digital strategy. Machine learning, a subset of AI, relies heavily on accurate datasets. To that end, the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, and the European Data Protection Supervisor issued a joint paper aimed at clearing up common misconceptions associated with machine learning systems, while emphasizing the importance of "data protection principles."
