ZDNet reports the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission released a 222-page report dissecting Google's advertising technology practices. The ACCC examined the delivery of personalized advertisements on websites, finding Google reached "over 80% of the most popular 1,000 websites in Australia." Data portability and interoperability were recommended solutions, but the ACCC noted those moves must "ensure that there are effective mechanisms to manage the risks that deidentified data may become re-identified and to ensure that consumers have effective controls over the sharing of their personal data."
