Amendments to the Washington Privacy Act passed through the House Innovation, Technology & Economic Development Committee, JD Supra reports. The amendments also passed through the House Committee on Appropriations. Both committees approved an amendment that created a private right of action within the Washington Privacy Act. Other amendments touched upon the law’s jurisdictional scope, the definition of a consumer, facial recognition, data minimization and the preemption of other state laws.
