The U.S. Senate took the next step to confirm Georgetown Law School professor Alvaro Bedoya to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Reuters reports. Vice President Kamala Harris broke a 50-50 tie to advance Bedoya’s confirmation. Bedoya's confirmation requires three Senate votes instead of two, after the Senate Commerce Committee deadlocked in a 14-14 tie and was unable to advance his nomination for a floor vote.
