The U.S. Government Accountability Office found seven law enforcement agencies in the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice reported using facial recognition services in criminal investigations from Oct. 2019 through March 2022 without requiring staff training. The office made 10 recommendations, including a training requirement for the FBI. Meanwhile, the GAO also published recommendations for the DHS regarding its Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology program.
