The U.K. Parliament passed the Online Safety Bill. Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology Michelle Donelan called the bill "a game-changing piece of legislation" with a "common-sense approach." Once the bill becomes law, after receiving Royal Assent, the Office of Communications will take a phased approach to bringing it into force. Companies could face fines of up to 18 million GBP or 10% of their global annual revenue for noncompliance.
