UK FCA fines Equifax following 2017 data breach

The U.K. Financial Conduct Authority issued an 11 million GBP fine to consumer credit rating agency Equifax for its role in a large-scale 2017 data breach, Reuters reports. For six weeks in 2017, hackers accessed the personal information of 13.8 million U.K. citizens, which was stored on U.S. servers, in addition to the nearly 148 million U.S. citizens who were impacted by the breach.
