Texas attorney general files suit over Facebook's facial recognition

The Wall Street Journal reports Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against Meta claiming Facebook's prior collection of facial images violated state privacy statutes. Paxton said Facebook was "harvesting Texans’ most personal information—photos and videos—for its own corporate profit" from 2010 to the end of its facial recognition program in November 2021, estimating "tens of millions of violations" during that time.
