A new report from threat management platform ObserveIT says 53% of respondents who handle sensitive information in the U.S. are not aware of federal or state regulations with how organizations manage customer data, TechRepublic reports. Their counterparts in the U.K., however, said that 83% is aware of data security policies to ensure compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The group surveyed 1,000 full-time employees in both the U.S. and U.K. The report also found a difference in training between the two groups. While 67% of respondents in the U.K. said they received data privacy training, only 46% of U.S. respondents believed they received adequate training. In the same survey, 65% of U.K. employees acknowledge handling information differently after the advent of the GDPR, while only 15% of U.S respondents are aware of the GDPR.
