Shanghai hotels to end scanning faces to increase tourism  

Hotels in Shanghai will no longer require guests to scan their face if they are able to provide identification, Yicai Global reports. Magnificent International Hotel Senior Economist Zhao Huanyan said hotels are hoping an end to the program will increase tourism. "This practice might have made sense during the heightened security of the Covid-19 pandemic, now that the tourism industry is picking up, collecting unnecessary personal information only serves to irk tourists," Huanyan said.
