Akin Gump released a report documenting the first year of civil litigation under the California Consumer Privacy Act. The report tracked the actions filed in federal and state courts across the U.S. between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2020. Of the 75 consumer class actions filed that cited the CCPA, the law firm found most complaints did not allege residents' personal information was impacted from a breach and that there is still confusion over which businesses must comply with the law.
