Thinking of getting IAPP privacy certified? Did you know that over 700 Canadian privacy pros have already done so? Proportionally, that’s pretty good. Anecdotally, I’ve spoken to many who have braved the exams and explained to me that they really thought it was worth it. For me, obtaining certification has been extremely valuable. Not too many of my counterparts have made the investment and, when potential clients are doing their homework on who they want to hire, my certification is definitely something that helps.

What’s holding you back? Let me know the hurdles you’re facing when it comes to getting the training you want and need for your career. If I can help the IAPP better understand any hurdles, and what you need from a training and certification perspective as a Canadian privacy pro, then there might be something we can do about it.

This past week, I was with a group of professionals in Toronto who was taking the plunge. They took the two-day training session with me and we had as much fun as you can have when taking a two-day training session. Seriously, they were a good, diverse group and I hope they do well with the exams. In two weeks’ time, I’ll have the pleasure of doing another training class in Toronto prior to the official kick-off of the Symposium.  When I stop to look at the bigger picture, it makes me glad so many people see the value in it, the same as I do.

And, on a completely different note, if you missed last week’s Digest, please go back and take a gander. There’s a link there to a survey we need you to fill out to ensure that this year’s Game Show works as best as it can. It will only take two minutes to fill out and have your (anonymous) say. If you don’t want to go through emails to find last week’s Digest, here’s the direct link to the survey.

Have a great weekend (and note the article below about a government grant that helps you get certified).
