The Associated Press reports Assemblyman Rob Bonta, D-Calif., has been appointed the state's new attorney general by Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif. If confirmed by the Legislature, the 48-year-old would assume enforcement duties for the state, including those related to California Consumer Privacy Act violations. "Now more than ever we need leaders in government, and leaders in law enforcement, who will build bridges with communities that have been othered, that have been persecuted, that have been targeted," Bonta said.
