Japan publishes AI governance guidelines

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry published “Governance Guidelines for the Practice of AI Principles.” The guidelines follow work of the AI Social Implementation Architecture Study Group, which examined “the ideal state of AI governance in Japan, such as regulations, standardization, guidelines, audits, etc.,” as well as trends in AI principles and regulations overseas. Input was also included from consumer protection experts and others.
