Italy's competition authority, the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, opened an investigation into alleged anti-competition violations stemming from Google's data portability practices. The regulator is probing claims that Google limits some third-party personal data sharing, which cuts into those third parties' abilities to "develop innovative forms of use of personal data." The AGCM noted Google has limited right to these portability limitations under Article 20 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
