Indian government preparing to release draft DPDPA rules

The Indian government intends to finalize the draft regulations for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act in January 2024, Moneycontrol reports. The plan was delivered to technology industry stakeholders during a closed-door meeting 20 Dec. The government will give stakeholders a week to provide feedback before the rules are formally notified in January, however, U.S.-based companies are pushing for extending the consultation period.
