TechCrunch reports IBM will end its facial recognition offerings, and CEO Arvind Krishna wants discussions on whether the systems should be deployed at all. In a letter, Krishna said IBM "will not condone" using biometric technologies for "any purpose which is not consistent with our values and Principles of Trust and Transparency." Meanwhile, U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., asked Clearview AI about potential use of facial recognition during protests. Also, a police reform bill from the House of Representatives includes provisions on facial recognition.
