Euractiv reports Germany's incoming government plans to throw support behind the use of end-to-end encryption without backdoors. Social Democratic Party member Jens Zimmermann said the SPD stands against provisions for backdoors in the EU's interim ePrivacy Regulation as means to combat child abuse online, noting the party views such exceptions to full encryption "goes far beyond what we envisage in terms of vulnerability management." The position comes as the SPD voiced support for an EU-wide artificial intelligence ban.
