Twitter's $150 million settlement with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission prior to Elon Musk's purchase of the platform, leaves its privacy and data security protections under heavy scrutiny, Politico reports. Former FTC officials said the commission will closely watch for any activity violating the settlement over Twitter’s improper use of phone numbers for ad targeting. Meanwhile, Musk’s interest in more targeted ads on Twitter would require more data collection, but Digital Content Next Chief Executive Jason Kint said “there’s limitations that are being put on how data can be used.”
