The Future of Privacy Forum has announced the creation of the Corporate-Academic Data Stewardship Research Alliance, a peer-to-peer network of private companies that seeks to ease privacy-protective data sharing between businesses and academic researchers. More than 25 companies have already joined the new initiative, which will strive to support and promote data sharing for academic research while addressing issues of ethics, policy and law in regards to sharing. While working under the common theme of understanding the legalities of data sharing, the alliance has already identified lacking contractual uniformity and limited access to an ethics review board as issues plaguing companies' efforts to share data properly.
