Artificial intelligence software company Alfi plans to use facial detection to target advertisements to people in public places, sparking privacy concerns, Bloomberg reports. Alfi’s software uses an individual’s age, gender and ethnicity, and the company said it can use “small facial cues” to provide advertisers information on consumers’ reactions. Alfi said it is compliant with privacy regulations and its technology does not collect personal information, but Fight for the Future Campaign Director Caitlin Seeley George said, “that’s not to say it can’t.”
