The Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union submitted a progress report on the latest draft ePrivacy Regulation, Hunton Andrews Kurth Privacy & Information Security Law Blog reports. The new draft includes the possibility of relying on legitimate interest to process electronic communications' metadata and to place cookies and other trackers on end-users' terminals. The presidency noted in the progress report, that "the introduction of the legitimate interest" grounds in the ePrivacy Regulation elicited "mixed reactions" from EU member states.
