France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, published a guide to support data protection officers. The guidance discusses the process and factors to be considered when hiring a DPO as well as what resources should be provided to allow a DPO to do their job effectively. The CNIL noted the guidance was crafted with a focus on ensuring DPOs "can carry out (their) missions in complete independence."
