According to Hunton Andrews Kurth's Privacy & Information Security Law Blog, President Jair Bolsonaro has issued an order to postpone the enforcement of the Brazilian General Data Protection Law to May 3, 2021 due to COVID-19. Brazilian Congress has until Aug. 27 to approve Bolsonaro's order or the LGPD will take force in August as previously scheduled. The order follows a recent COVID-19 bill with provisions to delay the LGPD that was passed by the Brazilian Senate and is awaiting a House vote.
