In U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings, Block, formerly Square, confirmed a data breach of CashApp by a former employer, TechCrunch reports. The primary information stolen were customer names and brokerage account numbers, as well as some data that included brokerage portfolio value, brokerage portfolio holdings and stock trading activity for one trading day. The company declined to state how many customers were affected, only that it was notifying approximately 8.2 million CashApp users about the incident. Block claimed no other personal information beyond names was taken.
