As users leave Twitter following Elon Musk’s purchase of the platform, alternative social media services face privacy and security questions, CyberScoop reports. Uncertainty over the security of private messages and other data on Mastodon, Hive and Post remains due to the rapid spike in users flocking to the platforms. As the number of users increases so will law enforcement requests for data. Privacy and security experts warn “independent Mastodon server administrators” around the world would handle each warrant individually.
