Brazil’s data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, opened a call for comments on regulation of international transfers of personal data. The ANPD said international data transfers are vital for developing the digital economy, and regulation of mechanisms allowing transfers is essential “to ensure the effective protection of data subjects and their personal data.” The ANPD said, “given the urgent need to regulate such mechanisms,” it plans to issue regulation in stages.
