U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., will not seek reelection in 2024, The Washington Post reports. Rodgers was a leading voice on passing federal comprehensive privacy legislation and co-sponsored the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act. Rodgers guided the bipartisan bill to passage out of her committee in 2022, marking the first time a comprehensive privacy bill passed a U.S. Congress committee.
