Twenty-four EU member states voted in favor of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, indicating they believe it offers an adequate level of protection of personal data. Three unnamed member states abstained from voting. The population represented by the 24 member states is more than 424 million. Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced the completion of commitments under President Joe Biden's executive order concerning the framework, which now awaits formal adoption by the European Commission.
