India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology notified the Digital Personal Data Protection Act Rules on 13 Nov. 2025, initiating an 18-month phased rollout of the DPDPA. Now is the time for building an informed compliance strategy that reflects the impacts, obligations and opportunities of this new comprehensive data protection law.
Drawing on insights from leading local experts, this webinar will unpack the scope of application, key definitions, legal bases, exemptions, standards of consent and other fundamentals of the act, as well as how they compare with parallel provisions in the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The session will also examine the roles and duties of data fiduciaries and the heightened compliance requirements for significant data fiduciaries. Together, these discussions will equip practitioners and policymakers with a clear understanding of practical compliance expectations and the broader trajectory of India's data protection regime, which is poised to impact organizations and individuals worldwide.
