Giorgia Lupi, co-founder and design director of Accurat, delivered a keynote address at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit 2016 on the subject of data, but with a twist. Rather than discussing data in relation to technology and big data, Lupi focused on the human element of data. Lupi spoke about two different projects she conducted using hand-crafted, imperfect data, helping her gain a more intimate experience with her work. “It is not imaginable that we hand-draw data in our job,” said Lupi. “But experimentations of this kind where we radically meet ourselves, where we drastically limit our tools and our possibilities, [it] can teach us a lot about the perspective that we look at any kind of data from, because by shifting away from the technology, you can get closer to real meaning.” Watch the full video on YouTube.
