Consumer deletion demands are accelerating, and California's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) has created a deadline that no data broker can afford to ignore. DROP is already live, and beginning August 1, 2026, registered data brokers must check the platform every 45 days and honor the deletion requests they find. While the DROP platform is certainly a major new compliance driver, DSR-processing challenges are not unique to data brokers. The capabilities DROP demands of data brokers (identity matching, accurate record comparison and processing, status tracking, and recordkeeping, among others) are the same ones many privacy teams need, and sometimes struggle, to manage.
In this session, we will break down what DROP requires and how to prepare before the August deadline. The discussion will then focus on practical ways to build and run a durable data subject request program, covering intake, identity verification, fulfillment, auditable recordkeeping, and metrics. Throughout, we'll show how the Captain Compliance platform can orchestrate and automate DSR intake and fulfillment, including via DROP platform integration.
